John Rhodes, cartwright - mystery solved

At the end of 2019 we asked if anyone could shed any light on the company responsible for this axle cap ?

A recent chance discovery in the 1911 census, followed by an examination of the electoral rolls has provided a likely solution to this mystery.

An appendix to the 1911 census provides, for the first time, a summary of the "occupants" of buildings not used as dwellings. It includes an entry for a Mr. Rhodes, operating a "Cartwright's shop" on Skipton Road.

The electoral rolls for the period 1906 to 1920 include a John Rhodes, of Crossmoor, Silsden, owning half a barn in the village.

Mystery solved (unless you know anything to the contrary).
